FELDENKRAIS® MEHOD / PHYSICAL THERAPY
The Feldenkrais® Method is an innovative system that approaches human development and the improvement of functioning through the medium of physical movement. The founder, Moshe Feldenkrais D Sc., utilized his background in physics, mechanical engineering and judo to develop a system with an unusual melding of biomechanics, motor development, psychology and the martial arts. It has achieved international recognition for its demonstrated ability to improve posture, flexibility, coordination, self-image and to alleviate muscular tension and pain.
Physical Therapist & Feldenkrais® Practitioner is an Australian-trained Physical Therapist (’81) registered to practice in the state of California, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais ® Practitioner (’91) and the founder of Learn-Heal-Return Rehabilitation. She has worked with clients with pain and movement difficulties of neurological, neuromuscular, and musculo-skeletal origin.
Louise uses gentle hands-on cues to develop a rapport with each individual based on respect for his/her abilities, qualities and integrity. Her intention is to create an environment in which the student can learn comfortably. Her personal experience of sports from track and field to golf, softball, swimming, field hockey, cycling, soccer and squash, and performing arts, contact improvisational dance and acting, informs her ability to see/feel the movement of another.
Louise maintains a private practice in Oakland, and is writing a book to help people prepare for total knee/hip replacement surgery.
